Optimize Facility Efficiency and Cost Savings
Incorporating podiatric services into your facility’s routine operations brings substantial cost savings and operational benefits. By reducing fall risk through targeted foot care, your facility can enhance safety ratings and overall quality metrics. Additionally, effective management of diabetic foot conditions can decrease the incidence of complications that lead to re-hospitalization.
Seamless Service Delivery for Maximum Convenience
Our flexible approach ensures that all patients, regardless of mobility, receive expert podiatric care. Our podiatrist will visit your facility quarterly, providing two types of visits to accommodate patient needs:
- Clinic visits, available for ambulatory patients capable of traveling to a central exam room within the facility.
- “In-Room visits” for those patients who are bed-bound or otherwise unable to travel to a central location.
Prevalence of Foot Problems in Elderly:
A study by Muchna et al. (2018) found that 24% of elderly adults had frequent painful foot problems including calluses, corns, and toenail abnormalities, and that foot problems were associated with frailty level and decreased motor performance.
Risk of Diabetic Foot Complications:
Diabetic patients in long-term care facilities are at risk for foot problems, but adequate foot care is often lacking.
Prevention of Falls:
A meta-analysis on fall-prevention in the elderly showed significantly beneficial effects on fall rates for elderly patients who received multi-faceted podiatric care including treatment of pathological nails and skin lesions of the foot.
Reduction of Healthcare Costs:
A study on diabetic patients in California projected that including podiatric care in multidisciplinary teams in hospitals could save 4.1% of inpatient costs through a 10% reduction in admissions and amputations. This underscores the value of podiatric services in both improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare expenses.
